WHAT IS MSWI?

Born from a passion for science communication, the McGill Scientific Writing Initiative aims to help students navigate the intricacies of scientific texts in order to effectively convey scientific material to a variety of audiences.

We plan on making science communication accessible to McGill students in the following three ways:

RESOURCES

We offer a writing guide tailored for McGill science students, written with the support of McGill faculty members.

Our team has also created concise resources on topics such as medical abbreviations and how to secure a research position.

EVENTS

We host events featuring science communication experts, ranging from workshops on how to annotate a research article to panel discussions about underrepresented populations in science.

We also run an annual case competition.

COMMUNITY

We hope to use our blog and social media platforms to celebrate the achievements of undergrads, highlight different perspectives in science communication, and promote discussion about current events in science.
